The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Demonstrates advanced specialist practice, undertaking holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients throughout the pre-and peri-operative pathway. The post holder will be expected to rotate between specialties.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the quality of care delivered within the clinical area, empowering and enabling the peri-operative team.
  • Works collaboratively and co-operatively with members of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver Operating Theatre Services and provide expert advice and support for other healthcare professionals and agencies.
  • Deputises for the Team Leader when required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • NMC Registered Nurse/HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner
  • Teaching & Assessing course or active on the mentor database
  • Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to area
  • Knowledge of local policies/procedures and guidelines
  • Knowledge of national strategies related to sphere of nursing/midwifery and current professional nursing issues
  • Degree in relevant clinical/professional subject
  • PALS/APLS
  • Knowledge of leadership and management theories

Experience

  • Extensive experience in Theatre
  • Experience of undertaking research work/audit work and standard setting

Aptitude and Abilities

  • Evidence of good organisational skills
  • Advanced clinical skills/knowledge relevant to area of expertise
  • Evidence of people management and leadership skills alongside the ability to care with warmth and understanding
  • Evidence of critical analysis skills
  • Effective decision maker and problem solver
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate with patients, relatives and all members of the Multidisciplinary Team
  • Ability to adapt to and propose changes within working situation
