Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic clinical pharmacist with a passion for Training and Development but also keen to work as part of the MDT within Rheumatology Services? This role is ideal for a pharmacist looking to maximise existing clinical knowledge within the rheumatology specialty, whilst also providing clinical leadership for Training and Development.

As our Training and Development lead, you will co-ordinate and maximise development opportunities across our whole team including undergraduate, pre-foundation, foundation and post foundation pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Working across East Integrated Healthcare Community (IHC) and the wider rheumatology clinical networks across the Health Board you will have opportunities to prescribe and contribute to audit and clinical governance developing guidelines and clinical pathways.

The Health Board has strong links with Bangor and Cardiff universities, providing opportunities for research, audits and teaching and credentialling as an advanced practice pharmacist. We are therefore looking for individuals with good organisational and communication skills who are keen to be involved in the further development of themselves and others. The successful candidate will play an influential role in the patients care pathway whilst building upon proven clinical skills through team leadership, development, multidisciplinary and collaborative working, both within primary and secondary care.

Main duties of the job:

  • Assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical education relating to medicines management for healthcare professionals and others working in health and social care.
  • Assist and mentor in training of the pharmacy team including: Undergraduate pre-foundation, foundation pharmacists and technicians; Pre-registration Pharmacists and technicians; Support in-house pharmacy training for all pharmacy students and staff and provide mentorship to foundation and clinical pharmacists.
  • Lead on audit and practice research within allocated area and multidisciplinary audits in BCUHB.
  • Undertake continuing professional development as required by the GPhC.
  • Lead a safe and effective specialist clinical pharmacy service to allocated area.
  • Provide expert pharmaceutical advice and support within both primary and secondary care services as required.
  • Develop, encourage and promote evidence-based, cost effective use of medicines.
  • Assist in providing clinical training and supervision of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • To be involved in the development and delivery of practice research, service and quality improvement.
  • Develop policies, protocols and guidelines within allocated area.
  • Work in partnership with service users, other health and social care colleagues, to achieve the optimum health outcome for service users.
  • Work within the scope of practice.

Person specification:

Qualifications

  • Essential criteria: MPharm degree or equivalent; Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council; Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience and/or qualifications; Non-medical prescribing qualification - or working towards.
  • Desirable criteria: Membership of relevant professional association; Accredited or eligible to be accredited as a Higher Education Institute Clinical Pharmacy diploma/MSc tutor; Training qualification; Leadership and/or management qualification.

Experience

  • Essential criteria: Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy.
  • Desirable criteria: Experience in relevant clinical area.
