Are you a pharmacist who is keen to make a meaningful difference to service provision, patient experience and outcomes in rheumatology in the West Integrated Health Community (IHC)? We are looking for a dynamic, forward‑thinking pharmacist to join the well‑established and supportive rheumatology multidisciplinary team based in the Peter Maddison Rheumatology Centre in Llandudno General Hospital. As part of our pharmacy team in Ysbyty Gwynedd, you will work to deliver seamless, patient‑centred pharmaceutical care that maximises health and wellbeing of North West Wales residents.
The role will focus on clinical practice in rheumatology two days a week, with flexibility to adjust the remainder of the week around your experience and service needs in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. Part‑time and split posts are accommodated.
Main duties of the job:
- Work directly alongside Consultant Rheumatologists and specialist nurses, holding your own clinic caseload as an independent prescriber responsible for prescribing DMARDs, biologics and specialist medicines for patients with rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatological conditions.
- Practise as an independent prescriber in outpatient clinics, delivering expert pharmaceutical care and contributing to medicines optimisation.
- Lead on safe, cost‑effective prescribing across the specialty, monitoring drug usage, expenditure and biosimilar switching.
- Develop and implement prescribing guidelines, policies and protocols for the department.
- Represent pharmacy at Rheumatology MDT and governance meetings, contributing to regional and national specialty networks.
- Act as a clinical role model, supporting, mentoring and educating undergraduate pharmacy students, trainee pharmacists, rotational pharmacists and other health‑care professionals.
- Drive service development and innovation, participating in research and audit, and sharing learning through publication and conference presentation.
- Knowledge of Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome.

Essential criteria:
- MPharm degree or equivalent.
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Post‑graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience and/or qualifications.
- Non‑medical prescribing qualification – or working towards it.
Desirable criteria:
- Membership of a relevant professional association.
- Accredited or eligible to be accredited as a Higher Education Institute Clinical Pharmacy diploma/MSc tutor.
- Training qualification in leadership and/or management.
Experience:
Essential criteria:
- Demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience in a relevant clinical area.
