Mandarin Chinese Language Assistant at Beths Grammar School

Salary: £120.00 - £150.00 Daily (£120-£150/day dependant on experience)

Hours Per Week: 2 days

About this Role: Beths Grammar School is a large multicultural school on the borders between London and Kent serving a wide range of vibrant and exciting communities. We specialise in boys' education in the main school and have a large, co‑educational sixth form. We are looking to appoint an outstanding Chinese Language Assistant to join our successful Modern Foreign Languages department for September 2026 for 2 days a week until February 2027, with the possibility of an extension of the contract depending on the needs of the school. The department has a proven track record of embracing innovative approaches to teaching and learning, offers Chinese Mandarin, French, German and Spanish to A Level, and also offers Italian and Latin to KS3. Beths Grammar School is a Confucius Classroom School and one of the highest performing Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) schools in the country. Chinese is popular in the curriculum and we currently deliver Edexcel A level Chinese, AQA GCSE Chinese and HSK examinations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist teaching to A Level standard.
  • Support the Mandarin Excellence Programme.
  • Improve students' Mandarin listening and speaking skills.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent Mandarin speaker.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
  • Ability to assist to A Level standard.
