Overview
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Full-Time 8-Hour Evening Shift – Bethesda Southgate
Responsibilities
- Provides basic nursing care by assessing residents on admission and on an ongoing basis.
- Communicates significant changes to the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and documents assessments.
- Participates in the care planning process; updates the care plan when interventions indicate the need for revision.
- Communicates the plan to residents, families, and appropriate IDT members.
- Implements nursing interventions relevant to the plan of care, including nursing orders and physician orders; addresses residents' educational and environmental needs.
- Ensures interventions such as medication administration and treatments are performed safely and in a timely manner.
- Administers IV fluids only if IV certified.
- Documents interventions accurately and timely.
- Uses critical thinking when dealing with changes in condition.
- Notifies the physician timely using the SBARR communication tool.
- Maintains composure during crises and ensures calm and professional handling of challenging situations.
- Monitors care delivery to ensure the care plan is followed and uses the QAPI process to address problems and resolve them promptly.
- Remains aware of residents' status to identify behavioral changes or other signs or symptoms.
- Responds to call lights and assists with residents' ADLs as needed.
- Participates in ongoing nursing education and stays current with best nursing practices and Bethesda policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education from an accredited school of nursing resulting in licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Current LPN license in the state of employment.
- CPR and AED certification required, or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
- IV certification required, or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
- Long-term care experience preferred.
- Ability to assess basic nursing care needs of geriatric residents.
- Excellent communication skills with residents, visitors and staff.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift heavy objects using proper techniques and with assistance when necessary.
- Ability to transfer/move patients up to 200+ lbs with proper lifting techniques and assistance.
- Ability to push/pull equipment weighing over 40 lbs using proper techniques and with assistance.
- Manual dexterity and coordination for working with patients and equipment.
- Visual acuity, including ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to document electronically and in writing.
Pay range: $26.96 - $43.25 per hour
