Summary Provides patient care related support including hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety as directed by the Charge Nurse per established guidelines. Documents in the patient record according to skill level and standards. Upon admission, completes personal belonging sheet, records height, weight, vital signs, orients the resident to the facility, ensures an arm band is in place and provides an admission kit. Responds promptly to call lights and resident needs. Performs rounds as assigned, turns and repositions residents every 2 hours (and seated residents every hour). Takes and reports vital signs and weights. Applies physician or therapy orders for slings, splints, braces, and related equipment. Records intake and output on I&O sheets and communicates with the Charge Nurse at shift change. Performs procedures and treatments as instructed (e.g., Sitz bath, moist packs, isolation techniques). Maintains supplies and equipment and alerts appropriate staff of needs. Completes duties as CNA, attends continuing education, accepts reassignment as needed, and keeps Charge Nurse informed. Interacts professionally with team members and managers; maintains confidentiality. Provides shift-end reports and participates in walking rounds with the incoming shift. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification in the state you will be working
  • CPR certification, or willing to obtain within six months of employment
  • Long-term care experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills to interact verbally with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance
  • Ability to transfer and move patients who weigh 200+ lbs with assistance
  • Ability to push and pull equipment weighing over 40 lbs with assistance
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to work with patients and equipment
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately in writing or via recording
  • Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish colour

Pay Range: $16.08 - $25.24 per hour
