- What you’ll be doing
As our senior plant fitter, you’ll be responsible for
- Carry out inspections, diagnosing any faults and defects on Bethell Plant Equipment, related equipment and components.
This includes testing, dismantling, overhauling, repairing, and re‑assembling as required.
- Participate in supporting operatives and employees in preventative maintenance checks, services and general maintenance and repairs of Bethell Plant Equipment, related equipment and components.
- Perform emergency call‑out repairs as required.
- Participate and support in planned maintenance shutdowns, liaising with all parties on affected key projects that will be using Bethell Plant Equipment at the time.
- Ensure that all work done by the team is carried in line with safe systems of work and that appropriate PPE and safety equipment is used at all times.
- Accurately complete the necessary paperwork in a timely manner as required to comply with Bethell Group policies and procedures.
- Comply with all Health, Safety, HR and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Deal with and report any major defects, concerns or problems with Bethell equipment, prioritising this accordingly.
- Carry out random checks and audits on Bethell Plant Machinery under remit.
- Be predominantly based at our Kearsley HQ, with occasional on‑site work for breakdowns, servicing & maintenance.
- What we’re looking for
- Experience in a plant fitter role (plant and/or construction background preferred)
- Experience and competency in fault‑finding, maintenance and repair of heavy‑duty construction plant (Crawler crane experience may be an advantage).
- Knowledge of safe working practices and basic Health & Safety requirements
- Good organisational, time management and communication skills
- Can work independently or as part of a team
- A driving licence (essential)
- May be required to work outside normal hours for call‑outs and emergency works, including nights and weekends
- May be required to work away at times depending on active schemes
- Welding/fabricating experience desirable but not necessary; appropriate training can be provided where required
- Minimum 5‑10 years experience working as a Plant Fitter with the relevant NVQ
- Expenses for work‑away will be met
