To manage Multi Utility projects, ensuring delivery in accordance with the requirements, standards and targets set out by the client. To work collaboratively and closely with the developers, internal staff, operatives, sub-contractors and other professionals in order to support this process. Responsible for all aspects of Planning, communications with the developers, Quality assurance, health, safety and quality and environmental assurance, contract administration, cost control, profit & loss responsibility.
Principal accountabilities
- SAFETY Accountable for Health & Safety on each site. Ensure at least 1 x Audits and TBT are carried out every month. Reporting of all hazards and near misses and promotion of positive interventions. Ensuring all RAMS are part of the teams work instruction pack on Focus. Ensuring the teams adhere to company policy/ HSG47 when excavating in the Highway. Ensuring all incidents are reported immediately with written reports carried out within 48 hours of the incident occurring, ensuring any disciplinary action is taken in conjunction with HR, where necessary. Management of all paperwork and submitting completions in a timely manner to the standard set out by the Company. Office drawings to be kept up to date and always live. Aslaids to be submitted to CAD without delay and vetted regularly. Also ensuring that the client is provided with regular updated Aslaid as the scheme progresses.
- CUSTOMER Efficient and effective Planning at all times, management and co-ordination of all utility work on each scheme from start to finish including design handovers, pre-start meetings, onsite/offsite mains laying coordination, Streetworks notices and permits, commissioning of all utilities, plot connections, walk offs, and communication with the client throughout. Always provide an excellent service to our customers any queries efficiently and effectively. Ensure that all works are pre-sited minimum. All pre-sites should be documented and uploaded onto the system. These reports need to be to a high standard and zero tolerance on not carrying out. To always provide an excellent service to all our clients with clear and concise communication.
- PEOPLE Management, coordination and planning of MU operatives and subcontractors to maximise efficiencies and drive production whilst ensuring that operatives work their contractual hours (on site for 7.30am or in the yard for 7am leaving by 7.30am and leaving site at 4.30pm). Performance manage teams and carry out appraisals when required. Manage the teams in a fair and honest way and manage the way you would like to be managed.
- INTEGRITY Always show honesty and consistency with your peers, Operational teams and Clients.
- EXCELLENCE Ensure we always construct a quality product and to specification giving our customers value for money to ensure we receive repeat business. Forward planning of work is accurately and efficiently managed. Have an understanding where each scheme is up to by, daily contact with teams, monitoring ELFs and working closely with the commercial department, ensuring CVRs are accurate and all costs are recorded. Accurate ordering of materials to avoid wastage. Keeping on top of housekeeping onsite, regular stock stakes to avoid duplication ordering and clearing of all surplus materials to stock. Fully responsible for ensuring the correct plant & equipment is ordered for the job on time with no delays ensuring that the security of the plant & equipment is always safe and secure. Monitoring of the live plant lists and Off-hire of plant (COINS) when not in use. Ensure that all sites are adequately signed with company image and Apology boards are used when working in the highway, keeping on top of housekeeping onsite and clearing sites of all debris. Take a proactive stance and organise Handovers (Design and Commercial) whenever starting a new project. Regularly update the ELF with the commercial team. Take a proactive stance on PODs (Proof of delivery) ensuring all tickets are collated and handed to the accounts team.
- SUSTAINABLE Ensure we always work in an efficient manner, minimising the number of visits/ personnel to site whilst maximising resources and programmes. Ensure the work planned is always profitable. Always look to recycle materials where applicable and able to and ensure unused materials are always credited back to the project.
Person Specification
- Minimum 5 years experience working within the MU industry.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a supervisory role.
- CITB SMSTS Site Manager Safety Training Scheme.
- EUSR SHEA G/W/E.
- EUSR Safe Control of Mains Connections (Water).
- EUSR SCMC(W) Senior Competent Person.
- Full clean driving licence.
- First Aid Training 3 Day.
