The Role

We are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in highways and civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will have proven experience delivering highway construction projects within both local authority and private development environments, managing schemes typically valued between £0.5m and £5m. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring close collaboration with clients, design teams, subcontractors, site teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all aspects of project delivery from pre‑construction through to completion
  • Overseeing health & safety, environmental and quality compliance
  • Contract administration and commercial awareness
  • Cost control, programme management and reporting
  • Leading and coordinating site teams and subcontractors
  • Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with NEC contracts and CDM regulations

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in highways and associated civil engineering works including excavation, drainage, concreting and groundworks
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or project management role
  • HNC/HND/Degree in a construction-related discipline
  • CSCS Gold Card
  • SMSTS (5-Day)
  • First Aid at Work certification
  • Temporary Works Supervisor accreditation
  • NRSWA Supervisor and/or Lantra 12D accreditation
  • SEATS (Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong understanding of: CDM Regulations, NEC Forms of Contract, Construction industry best practice and trade disciplines
