About the Role

As a key member of our People & Development function, you will be the first point of contact for all day-to-day HR queries, supporting managers and employees with professionalism, clarity, and care. You will play a vital role in shaping an inclusive, supportive culture while ensuring our people processes run smoothly, accurately, and in line with employment law and company policy. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing timely, accurate support on HR and ER-related matters.
  • Maintaining precise HR records, ensuring all documentation is completed and uploaded correctly.
  • Supporting recruitment activities, onboarding, and induction processes.
  • Guiding managers on performance management, one-to-ones, and appraisals.
  • Generating and reviewing absence reports, ensuring return-to-work documentation is completed.
  • Contributing to ongoing HR policy development and system improvements.
  • Promoting wellbeing initiatives, inclusion, fairness, and respect across the organisation.
  • Championing the Bethell brand and acting as an ambassador for the People & Development team.

Skills & Experience

  • CIPD qualified (or working towards), with evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience as an HR Advisor or similar role in civil engineering / utilities industry.
  • Strong experience in supporting ER cases.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and current HR practice.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • Clear, confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to influence, support, and guide managers at all levels.
  • Proactive, trustworthy, diplomatic, and committed to delivering exceptional service.
