We are looking for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to provide contractual and commercial expertise across projects from pre-construction through to completion. You will play a key role in ensuring value is maximised, risks are mitigated, and cashflow is maintained, while supporting strategic delivery and ensuring compliance with commercial procedures and reporting requirements.
Working closely with commercial, operational, finance, and support teams, you will ensure deadlines are achieved, targets are met, and procurement deliverables are successfully managed through effective supply chain communication and analysis. You will take the lead in the management, procurement, and implementation of subcontracts, while liaising with clients and stakeholders to drive the best commercial outcomes across all projects. A key part of the role will also involve mentoring trainee and assistant Quantity Surveyors, sharing your experience and setting high standards across the team.

- Contribute to budget development, procurement strategy, and commercial targets
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- CSCS accredited
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or 10+ years’ experience
- Professional membership (RICS, CICES, ICE or similar) – desirable
- Strong financial and commercial management background
- Experience across civils, drainage, groundworks, concreting, and highways projects (up to £20m)
- Full UK driving licence
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to maximise value and manage cashflow
- Solid understanding of construction and highways infrastructure sectors
- Experience in cost forecasting, reporting, and contract administration
- Knowledge of JCT, NEC, and ICE contracts
- Familiarity with insurance requirements (warranties, bonds, PCGs)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with knowledge of Project, Primavera, or similar
- Strong understanding of H&S practices and tender processes
- Ability to analyse, measure, and compare project data and drawings
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of measurement standards (MCHW, CESMM4, SSM7)
