The Senior HR Advisor provides strategic HR support and guidance to the Divisional and Area teams within the North and South divisions, as well as Head Office. This role ensures compliance with legislation and best HR practices, acting as a key point of contact for complex colleague relations issues and providing advice, solutions, and support to maintain a positive working environment and effectively resolve HR matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert HR advice and guidance to Divisional Managers, Area Teams, Head Office staff, Heads of Department, and Directors across the North and South divisions.
  • Collaborate closely with HR Support Teams to handle complex colleague relations cases, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and company policies.
  • Support managers in resolving employee relations issues, influencing decisions aligning with good employment practice and organisational needs.
  • Participate in and provide guidance during disciplinary, grievance, and performance management meetings to ensure fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of people policies and procedures aligned with business objectives and legal standards.
  • Implement value-adding HR disciplines, templates, and processes to address business needs effectively.
  • Maintain accurate case management records, ensuring timely updates and attention to detail to minimise errors.
  • Act as a point of contact for HR queries, providing timely and accurate responses while managing personal workload efficiently.
  • Stay updated on HR legislation, best practices, and industry trends, sharing knowledge with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in HR projects and initiatives as directed by the HR Manager, Head of HR, or People Director.
  • Foster positive employee engagement through proactive support and engagement initiatives.
  • Support, guide, and mentor HR advisors, providing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support, guide, and coach area teams in HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent understanding and application across divisions.
  • Assist the Senior ER Specialist in tribunal case preparation and resolution.

What you'll need to succeed

Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of employment law and legislation, with the ability to apply them to practical HR situations.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and procedures, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong customer handling and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade others.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in PC applications and HR software.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must be willing to engage in occasional countrywide travel.

Desirable

  • Sector Knowledge: Experience working within a fast‑paced retail, hospitality, or regulated gaming environment.
  • Advanced Qualification: CIPD Level 7 or additional project management training.
  • Strategic Input: Experience assisting with TUPE transfers or large‑scale organisational restructures.
  • Innovation: A passion for continuous improvement and a desire to integrate modern HR tools or AI‑driven efficiencies.
