We are looking for an experienced SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) Developer to join us on a contract/interim basis. The role is hybrid, split between home and office working. The primary focus will be responding to business reporting requests and amending existing SSRS reports on SQL Server, with a secondary responsibility of supporting the migration of SSRS reporting to Amazon Redshift.

Job Duties

  • Amend, maintain, and enhance existing SSRS reports hosted on SQL Server, ensuring accuracy, performance, and fitness for business use.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve report defects, data discrepancies, and performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage report deployment, scheduling, and subscriptions within the SSRS environment.
  • Support the migration of existing SSRS reports and underlying data sources from SQL Server to Redshift, including query conversion, data source reconfiguration, and testing.
  • Validate migrated reports against existing outputs to confirm data accuracy and consistency post-migration.
  • Document report specifications, changes, and migration decisions to maintain a clear audit trail.
  • Liaise with data engineering teams where report or migration work depends on underlying data model or infrastructure changes.
  • This list is not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake additional duties, not listed, that are considered reasonable and are aligned to your role.

  • Proven hands-on experience developing and maintaining reports in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

  • Experience gathering requirements directly from business stakeholders and translating them into report specifications.
  • Solid understanding of report design principles (parameters, subreports, data-driven subscriptions).
  • Experience with SQL Server administration/reporting infrastructure sufficient to support report deployment and troubleshooting.

Desirable

  • Experience migrating reporting workloads or data sources to Amazon Redshift, or working with Redshift more generally.
  • Familiarity with differences between T-SQL and Redshift SQL (PostgreSQL-based) and common migration pitfalls (data types, functions, performance tuning).
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, with an awareness of data protection and information security requirements when handling business or customer data.
