As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will help to build, operate, and enhance our expanding Google Cloud environments. The Cloud Platform team is currently undertaking an initiative to establish a public cloud capability that aligns with our existing on-premise expertise. This aims to create a seamless hybrid operating model that effectively meets the dynamic needs of our Business and customers.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working on innovative initiatives and can make an immediate impact and support the continued growth of the Business. You will utilise your expertise in a dynamic and challenging environment, playing a key role in the development and support of our cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with a talented team of professionals, while receiving comprehensive support and training to facilitate your growth and development. This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.
Preferred Skills and Experience- Significant and broad public cloud experience at scale preferably with Google Cloud.
- Strong knowledge of Projects, Folders, IAM and Billing within the core platform.
- Familiar operating with Infrastructure as Code using industry standard tooling, preferably Terraform and associated methodologies.
- Proficiency in utilising custom automation and scripting using tools such as G-Cloud, CLI, Bash, Python and Golang.
- Detailed understanding of modern platform stacks such as Kubernetes or GKE and affiliated technologies, including service mesh/ingress, CI/CD, monitoring stacks, and security instruments.
- Strong understanding of networking in Public Cloud environments.
- Clear grasp of security considerations when operating in the public cloud.
- Practical understanding of financial management in the cloud and FinOps concepts.
- Maintaining and improving our cloud platform and acting as a key escalation point when required.
- Taking accountability for the end-to-end delivery of public cloud pathfinder initiatives.
- Collaborating to advocate, influence and lead technical aspects of our transition to the public cloud.
- Working with the team to embed the cloud platform team in the operational running of the wider technology function.
- Supporting and consulting with stakeholders.
- Driving engineering excellence across the team by fostering modern engineering practices and processes.
