A FTSE-listed organisation is seeking an Interim Technology Controls Executive to take executive accountability for a critical technology controls improvement programme operating across Technology, Finance, and Audit. This is a client-side leadership role, responsible for stabilising, governing, and driving delivery of enterprise-level technology controls that are subject to external audit and financial reporting reliance. You will operate as the senior counterweight to external advisory firms.
The Role
You will assume senior ownership of the technology controls agenda, providing clear leadership, credible audit engagement, and decisive delivery in a highly governed environment. The remit includes enterprise technology controls across:
- Identity and access management
- Technology resilience, continuity, and recoverability
- Technology asset visibility and control
- Technology change and release management
The focus is on strengthening the control environment, closing gaps, and ensuring readiness for ongoing external reliance and regulatory scrutiny.
You will:
- Act as the client-side executive lead for the Technology Controls and Assurance programme.
- Provide senior oversight and direction to external advisory and delivery partners, ensuring outcomes over activity.
- Establish and operate effective programme governance, reporting, and executive-level cadence.
- Assess the current technology controls capability and define a pragmatic, sustainable operating model.
- Oversee remediation of control deficiencies and readiness for audit reliance.
- Engage confidently with senior Technology, Finance, Risk, and Audit stakeholders.
- Ensure clarity of ownership, accountability, and momentum across all workstreams.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Proven experience leading or building a Technology Controls, Technology GRC, or Technology Assurance function within a FTSE 100 or similarly complex, regulated organisation.
- Deep, hands-on experience with technology controls supporting financial reporting assurance.
- Track record of operating successfully under external audit and inspection.
- Experience managing and challenging Big 4 firms from the client side.
- Comfortable operating at senior management or executive level with minimal supervision.
- Big 4 background or equivalent advisory experience strongly preferred.
- Senior, credible, and calm under scrutiny.
- Pragmatic operator who can cut through complexity and drive outcomes.
- Trusted by auditors and executives alike, without being captured by either.
- Able to mobilise immediately and operate at pace in a high-pressure environment.
