A major financial market infrastructure is undergoing a multi-year transformation, moving from legacy COBOL-based systems on HPE NonStop to a modern, event-driven, Java-based architecture. This is not a simple migration. It’s a fundamental shift toward scalable, platform-independent systems built on Linux and containerised environments.
You’ll join a Solutions Architecture team within a Software Engineering function, working across both strategic design and hands-on delivery. Your focus will be a large-scale transformation programme, shaping how legacy platforms evolve into a modern, distributed ecosystem.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design end-to-end solution architectures across complex programmes
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable designs
- Act as the bridge between Enterprise Architecture and engineering teams
- Define reusable architecture patterns and contribute to engineering standards
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and delivery teams
- Lead or support proof-of-concepts and prototype development
- Provide technical leadership, including hands-on Java development where needed
- Present architectural solutions to a range of stakeholders
- Ensure consistency, compliance, and quality across systems
What you bring:
- Proven background in solution architecture across full delivery lifecycles
- Experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale systems
- Strong Java and object-oriented design expertise
- Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka)
- Nice to have: Microservices or SOA architectures
