A major financial market infrastructure is undergoing a multi-year transformation, moving from legacy COBOL-based systems on HPE NonStop to a modern, event-driven, Java-based architecture. This is not a simple migration. It’s a fundamental shift toward scalable, platform-independent systems built on Linux and containerised environments.

You’ll join a Solutions Architecture team within a Software Engineering function, working across both strategic design and hands-on delivery. Your focus will be a large-scale transformation programme, shaping how legacy platforms evolve into a modern, distributed ecosystem.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design end-to-end solution architectures across complex programmes
  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable designs
  • Act as the bridge between Enterprise Architecture and engineering teams
  • Define reusable architecture patterns and contribute to engineering standards
  • Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and delivery teams
  • Lead or support proof-of-concepts and prototype development
  • Provide technical leadership, including hands-on Java development where needed
  • Present architectural solutions to a range of stakeholders
  • Ensure consistency, compliance, and quality across systems

What you bring:

  • Proven background in solution architecture across full delivery lifecycles
  • Experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale systems
  • Strong Java and object-oriented design expertise
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka)
  • Nice to have: Microservices or SOA architectures
  • Containerisation and OpenShift
  • Database design (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Experience in regulated or financial environments

Interviews will commence swiftly.
