A leading financial market infrastructure organisation is seeking a Senior Compliance Manager to play a key role in strengthening its second line of defence across compliance risk and data protection. This is a senior, high-visibility position offering the opportunity to influence how compliance frameworks evolve within a complex, highly regulated environment.

The Opportunity

You will support the design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of a risk-based compliance framework, providing independent oversight, guidance and challenge to the business. Alongside this, you will take ownership of Data and Personal Data responsibilities, working closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure robust data governance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance Oversight & Advisory
    • Provide independent 2nd Line guidance and challenge on compliance risk management
    • Deliver compliance monitoring activities aligned to the annual compliance plan
    • Ensure the compliance framework remains robust, effective and embedded
    • Produce clear, insightful MI and reporting for senior stakeholders
    • Support the business in responding to regulatory change and enhancing control frameworks
  • Governance & Committees
    • Participate in governance forums, providing oversight and challenge
    • Prepare and contribute to committee papers and updates
  • Business Partnership
    • Act as a trusted advisor while maintaining appropriate independence
    • Review and challenge 1st Line activities and outputs
    • Build strong relationships across the three lines of defence to support clear risk ownership
  • Policies, Procedures & Training
    • Review and enhance policies, procedures and frameworks
    • Draft compliance documentation where required
    • Deliver training and maintain appropriate records
  • Group & Regulatory Engagement
    • Support engagement with Group Compliance and regulatory stakeholders
  • Data Protection Responsibilities
    • Support the Data Protection Officer on GDPR and Data Protection Act obligations
    • Monitor compliance with data protection requirements, including DPIAs and training
    • Act as a point of contact for regulators and data subjects where required
    • Contribute to group-wide data protection forums and best practice sharing

Your Experience

  • Strong experience in compliance, 2nd Line risk oversight, or regulatory advisory
  • Background within financial services, market infrastructure, or a regulatory body
  • Solid understanding of UK regulatory frameworks (FCA, PRA, Bank of England)
  • Familiarity with CSDR and CPMI-IOSCO principles
