BestStart Berryfield’s Crossing is seeking a passionate and dedicated Cook to join our energetic, close-knit team on a fixed-term contract.
We are committed to providing high-quality education and care for children in our community, and our Centre Cook plays an important role in supporting their health, wellbeing and development through nutritious, appealing meals.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy centre and prepare fresh, nutritious and culturally varied meals for children each day.
Working 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from October to December 2026, you will plan, prepare and cook morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea while maintaining excellent standards of food quality, hygiene and safety. You will need to manage your time effectively, understand children’s nutritional needs, and prepare meals that meet a range of allergies and dietary requirements.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong understanding of kitchen health and safety, hygiene and housekeeping standards
- Is passionate about cooking and baking
- Understands allergies and different dietary requirements
- Can create menus and place weekly orders using a computer
- Can manage food ordering within an allocated budget
- Enjoys promoting healthy eating and positive food experiences for young children
- Is committed to making a difference as part of a collaborative, dedicated team
