To lead a nursery room (baby, toddler, or preschool), ensuring high-quality care, learning, and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Childcare & Development
    • Plan and deliver engaging activities based on EYFS
    • Monitor, assess, and record children’s development
    • Support children’s emotional, social, and physical needs
  • Room Leadership
    • Lead and supervise a team of nursery practitioners
    • Delegate tasks and support staff development
    • Maintain staff ratios and daily organisation
  • Safeguarding & Welfare
    • Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times
    • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures
    • Report concerns in line with legal requirements
  • Administration
    • Maintain accurate records (learning journeys, observations)
    • Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards
    • Manage daily room routines and planning
  • Parent Partnerships
    • Build strong relationships with parents/carers
    • Provide feedback on children’s progress
    • Support settling-in processes

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare, Experience working in a nursery setting, Strong knowledge of EYFS, Experience supporting or leading a team
  • Desirable: Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding training, Previous Room Leader or Senior Practitioner experience
