To lead and manage a Montessori classroom, ensuring the highest standards of education and care are provided in line with the Montessori philosophy, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and all relevant statutory requirements. To act as a role model and mentor to staff, fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where every child can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Montessori room, ensuring smooth running and consistency of practice.
  • Support, supervise, and mentor practitioners and assistants in the classroom.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the Montessori curriculum in line with EYFS requirements.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and management.

Teamwork & Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively with early years practitioners and management.
  • Support ongoing staff training and development.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and relevant Montessori conferences or workshops.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Montessori Diploma (AMI, MCI, or equivalent).
  • Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare.
  • Strong understanding of Montessori principles and EYFS framework.
  • Experience in a Montessori early years setting, ideally in a senior or leadership role.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • A current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding training.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior staff.
  • Knowledge of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) support.
