The Nursery Curriculum Leader is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring a high-quality early years curriculum in line with the EYFS framework. The role ensures that teaching, learning, and assessment promote excellent outcomes for all children while supporting staff development and maintaining high standards of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum & Teaching
- Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the nursery curriculum in line with the EYFS.
- Ensure learning experiences are inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
- Monitor children’s progress and ensure accurate observation, assessment, and planning.
- Promote play-based learning that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Support, mentor, and guide nursery practitioners in curriculum delivery.
- Model outstanding teaching practice and support staff professional development.
- Lead curriculum meetings, planning sessions, and training where required.
- Work collaboratively with the Nursery Manager to maintain high standards.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning across the nursery.
- Support inspections (e.g. Ofsted) and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Ensure safeguarding, health, and safety procedures are embedded in daily practice.
- Build strong relationships with parents/carers to support children’s learning.
- Communicate effectively about children’s progress and curriculum intent.
- Work with external agencies and professionals as needed.
