This Level 5 Early Years Lead Apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to develop into a Deputy Manager while working in a professional early years setting. You will gain hands-on leadership experience, support day-to-day nursery operations, and help deliver high-quality care and education for children.
As a Trainee Deputy Manager, the apprentice will play a key role in supporting the leadership and day-to-day running of the nursery while completing a Level 5 Early Years Lead Apprenticeship.
- Support the Deputy Manager and Manager in the day-to-day operation of the setting
- Lead rooms or practice areas to ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and care
- Support and mentor staff, apprentices, and students
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are met at all times
- Help plan, implement, and review the early years curriculum in line with the EYFS
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Contribute to staff supervision, team meetings, and continuous improvement
- Support with compliance, inspections, and quality assurance processes
- Complete all apprenticeship training, assessments, and coursework alongside their role
Hours: Shifts to be confirmed with flexible working hours. Working pattern: 3 - 4 days per week. 30 hours a week.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
Your training course: Early years practitioner. The programme offers a blended approach including virtual classrooms, webinars, work-based tasks and online assignments. Candidates are not required to attend college; instead, this will include off the job training hours (OTJH) used throughout this apprenticeship.
You will also receive one-to-one support and tuition from your apprenticeship tutor, who will make in-person visits to you at the nursery, or schedule online meetings every 5-6 weeks.
Requirements: Level 3 Early Years Qualification is Essential.

After this apprenticeship: Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners can enter the workforce as a qualified level 2 Early Years Practitioner or continue to study for a level 3 Diploma, holding Early Years Educator status, including the Early Years Educator apprenticeship.
