An Early Years Practitioner (EYP) works in a range of early years settings delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) including full day-care, children's centres, playgroups, pre-schools, nursery schools, and reception. This apprenticeship is a great opportunity to build your career in the Early Years sector.

Apprentice wage: Apprentice wage of £7.55 per hour for the first 12 months and minimum wage thereafter.

Hours: Monday to Friday. Weekly rotation of 8:00am - 4:00pm and 9:00am - 5:00pm. 37.5 hours a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care and early years education to children aged 0-5.
  • Observe, assess, and document children's progress in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Work closely with the team to plan and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of individual children.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ensure that children are safe, and their well-being is always a priority.
  • Promote and encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional development.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Support with daily routines, including mealtimes, nappy changes, and nap times.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support children's development through age-appropriate activities and play-based learning.

Entry Requirements:

  • Level 2 Early Years Educator qualification.
  • Experience working directly with children aged birth to five under the EYFS, in a setting that delivers EYFS requirements.
  • Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths GCSE, or willingness to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 if not already held.

Apprenticeship Details:

  • Duration: 18-24 months including up to 3 months for End Point Assessment.
  • Delivery: Mix of online and face-to-face training, monthly training events, plus online webinars and resources.
