Full-Time On-site
B

Location: Hybrid / Whittle-le-Woods, UK
job type: Permanent / Full-time
Sector and subsector: Medical & Healthcare | Healthcare Assistants
AnnualFixed salary:£ 30000.00

We’re looking for an organised, approachable and proactive Housing and Property Officer to join our Assets team.

This is a varied role where you’ll help make sure the homes and buildings we use are safe, well maintained and a positive place for people to live and work. You’ll be a key point of contact for day-to-day property and repair enquiries, working with colleagues, contractors, landlords and other partners to get things resolved. Most importantly, you’ll understand that many of the properties you visit are someone’s home. You’ll take a respectful and person-centred approach, keeping people informed, listening to concerns and making sure repairs and property issues are followed through to a satisfactory conclusion.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days will be exactly the same. You could be arranging a repair with a contractor, coordinating access to a property, following up an outstanding job or carrying out a scheduled property inspection. You’ll help coordinate repairs from the initial enquiry through to completion, keeping clear records and making sure people know what’s happening along the way. You’ll work closely with contractors, landlords, registered providers and our internal teams, monitoring progress and escalating urgent or unresolved issues when needed.

You’ll also have an important role in helping us keep our properties safe and compliant. This includes coordinating planned checks such as gas safety, electrical inspections, fire alarm servicing and emergency lighting inspections, as well as keeping track of appointments, certificates and any follow-up work.

As part of your property visits, you’ll be alert to issues such as damp and mould, heating and ventilation problems, leaks, disrepair and other potential housing hazards, making sure concerns are recorded, reported and acted upon. There’ll be an administrative side too, including raising purchase orders, maintaining accurate property and repair records and providing straightforward updates on outstanding work and recurring issues.

About You

You don’t necessarily need to come from one particular type of property background. You may have experience in housing, repairs coordination, property services, facilities or another customer-focused role where you’ve been responsible for managing enquiries and seeing things through.

You’ll need to be confident communicating with a wide range of people and able to stay organised when priorities change. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, follows things up and doesn’t lose sight of the person affected by a repair or property issue.

You’ll also bring:

  • Good organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Practical awareness of repairs, property hazards and safety inspections
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital systems
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors and external partners
  • An understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and safe working
  • The ability to travel between Best Lives locations and properties as required

Experience within supported housing, social housing, adult social care or a registered provider would be an advantage, as would experience of contractor management, purchase ordering or property inspections. A relevant housing or property qualification, such as CIH Level 3, would also be welcomed, although we’re equally interested in people who are willing to develop their knowledge.
