About the Role
We are seeking a Junior-Level DevOps Engineer to join our Technical Solutions Team at Halliburton. This role is pivotal in supporting the deployment and management of our cloud and on-premises infrastructure, specifically within the Neftex subsurface evaluation product portfolio. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn, with a passion for building scalable, reliable, and secure solutions using the latest cloud technologies. As part of our team, you will collaborate closely with software developers and operational staff to streamline deployment processes, automate infrastructure provisioning, and enhance system performance. Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in building and maintaining distributed systems within on-premises, private cloud, or hybrid environments.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
- Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for operational automation.
- Solid understanding of networking principles, including firewalls, routing, and web application firewalls (WAF).
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Experience working with a public cloud provider, preferably AWS or Azure.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, agile environment.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of modern infrastructure design patterns and best practices.
- Familiarity with server hardware, virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper‑V), and storage systems.
- Experience with GitOps workflows and related tools.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Understanding of infrastructure security best practices, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and secrets management.
- Experience with data encryption, compliance standards, and audit logging.
- Experience working within Agile teams using Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively in geographically distributed and cross‑functional teams.
- Familiarity with SOC2 compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure supporting our applications and services.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring rapid and reliable releases.
- Create and maintain automation scripts for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment tasks.
- Build operational tooling and scripts to enhance monitoring, logging, backups, and incident response capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with application developers to ensure seamless integration between code and infrastructure components.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability using appropriate tools and metrics, proactively addressing issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues across various environments efficiently.
- Implement and enforce security policies for cloud and on‑premises environments to safeguard data and infrastructure assets.
- Maintain and improve Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts and templates to ensure consistency and repeatability.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives, contributing to continuous improvement.
- Document infrastructure architectures, operational procedures, and best practices for team reference and compliance.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, automation frameworks, and DevOps trends, and proactively recommend improvements to existing processes.
