About the role
We are recruiting for a Transport Coordinator to assist the Transport Manager with the day to day running of the operation and ensure all legal, cost and budgetary requirements are met, such as tachograph infringements, routes, drivers’ hours, payroll and compliance. Responsible for briefing and de-briefing of the Driver team. The working hours for this role are 40 hours per week over 5 days, which may include Saturdays and public holidays.
You will be responsible for:
- Route allocation, adjusting where necessary.
- Ensure routes leave the depot on time and following up on late or no show vehicles.
- Ensure legal, company and statutory requirements concerning transport are adhered to including completing and maintaining all relevant records – driver’s hours, driver licenses, tachograph, vehicle/MHE inspection and maintenance, H&S at work, vehicle defects, safe systems of work and risk assessments.
- Manage drivers’ hours in line with working time directive rules.
- Signing off tachograph infringements.
- Completing the DAL.
- Manage driver rosters, input payroll, agency payroll and book holidays.
- Absence management and relevant absence paperwork completion.
- Liaise with agencies to cover driver/driver assistant shortfall.
- Complete investigations and disciplinaries to the agreed process.
- Checking through Driver PDA compliance upon completion of route.
- Manage on-route compliance throughout the day and liaise with drivers whilst out on route for any non-compliance.
- Investigate all PDA non-conformance issues and pass to the Transport Manager.
- Reporting on Performance from Microlise standards.
- Resolving failed delivery issues and liaising with couriers to make deliveries/collections when necessary.
- Liaising with the CAD team for store credits.
- Ensuring any incidents/accidents have the correct paperwork completed for the Transport Manager.
- Involvement in depot audits.
- Designated key-holder with a full responsibility of the site at weekends and cover in the Transport Manager's absence.
- Maintain staff training folders and training administration.
- Complete driver de-briefs.
- Daily/Weekly stock counts & returns log accuracy.
- Conducting daily briefs with colleagues.
- First point of escalation for queries.
You will need:
- An understanding of Transport environment and LGV vehicles.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Organisational, time management and communication skills.
- Previous experience of working in a fast-moving logistics environment.
- Class 2 LGV Licence. (Desirable)
- SAP Experience, PO raising and invoicing.
- Knowledge of Microlise System. (This would be advantageous)
