The Role – Energy Surveyor (Freelance)
As a Freelance Energy Surveyor at Best.Energy, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients’ energy saving and Net Zero journeys. You will conduct site-based energy surveys, focusing on the evaluation of energy-consuming equipment such as heating, lighting, and air conditioning systems. Your expertise will help our clients identify energy-saving opportunities and align with ESOS compliance standards. Below are some of the key objectives of the role, though it is by no means exhaustive:
- Conducting comprehensive energy surveys on site, assessing the efficiency of energy-consuming equipment including boilers, heating, lighting, and air conditioning.
- Composing detailed energy survey reports that align with ESOS compliance standards.
- Arranging and preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) before site visits.
- Providing recommendations for energy efficiency improvements to support clients' Net Zero targets.
- Collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Staying updated with industry regulations and best practices to provide cutting-edge advice to clients.
- Potential for progression into site management, ESG, optimisation, or other areas of the business.
You – Energy Surveyor

- Previous experience in conducting site-based energy surveys is essential.
- Ideally, you should have an ESOS Lead Assessor qualification, but this is not mandatory, or be CEA accredited or similar
- DEA/NDEA certification is desirable.
- A clean driving license is required as the role involves travel and overnight stays.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own schedule efficiently.
- IT literacy, particularly in using CRM systems and report-writing software.
- Strong analytical skills
