Laing O’Rourke are looking for an Apprentice Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship and join their team.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work:

  • Supporting the operations of a modern manufacturing facility, applying your technical skills to overcome problems.
  • Electrical exposure to PLC’s and fault finding, installing and wiring up new equipment, understanding electrical drawings, testing electrical components, isolation and inspection of electrical items, including exposure to both the LV & HV Networks.
  • Mechanical exposure will include hydraulics, welding, overhauling and installing mechanical components, understanding engineering drawings and bench fitting activities in the workshop.
  • The type of work will vary from inspections, servicing and project-based work, with the aim to become more reliable.

Skills required:

  • Must be able to work on your own and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Full mobility to enable travel to various project locations.

Personal qualities the candidate must have:

  • General interest in electrical and mechanical engineering.
  • General interest in automation and machinery.
  • Enthusiastic and ambitious, with an interest in modern methods of construction.
  • Willing to be hands-on and become a key member of the maintenance team.
