Bloomsbury’s Academic Division seeks an enthusiastic, efficient, and personable candidate to support editorial work across Theatre Studies, The Arden Shakespeare, Literary Studies, and Classical Studies. This is an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience of a busy editorial department and develop valuable publishing skills.
Responsibilities
- Preparing, sending out and returning contracts
- Assessing book proposals and sending emails/letters of acknowledgement and rejection
- Sending out copies of published books
- Maintaining physical and electronic book files and records
- Carrying out manuscript checks ahead of handover to production
- Helping with the peer review process
- Submitting books into the print on demand programme
- Completing pro forma such as cheque requisitions and book orders
- Briefing book cover designs to the Design Team
- Commissioning marketing endorsements for key titles
- Clearing permissions
- Carrying out research into new projects
- Administrative tasks such as filing and archiving of paperwork
- Creating and maintaining online resources for key titles
