A quickly growing architectural practice based in the creative heart of South London is seeking an experienced Associate to join their expanding team working on large-scale residential and workplace developments. This medium sized practice has established itself as a specialist in multiāresidential, commercial and industrial architecture, delivering large scale projects. With ambitious plans to grow over 2026, this is an exciting time to join a practice on an upward trajectory.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a landmark development alongside a growing portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial and international work.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of multiāresidential and workplace projects from inception through to completion, managing project teams and taking ownership of design quality, programme and budget.
- Act as primary client point of contact, building strong relationships and managing expectations throughout all project stages.
- Oversee project delivery across RIBA Stages 0ā6, with particular focus on design development (Stages 2ā3) and technical coordination (Stage 4).
- Lead design development on new commissions and competitions, establishing design concepts that respond to client briefs, site context and commercial constraints.
- Coordinate and review work produced by project architects and junior team members, ensuring design integrity is maintained through technical delivery.
- Manage consultant teams and contractor relationships, chairing coordination meetings and resolving complex technical challenges.
- Support business development activities including client presentations, competition submissions and pitches for new work.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the practice, working closely with directors to shape studio culture, design approach and project pipeline.
- Mentor and develop project architects and junior staff, supporting their career progression and professional development.
- Represent the practice at client meetings, planning presentations and industry events.
- RIBA Part III qualified and ARB registered.
- Minimum 8ā10 years postāqualification experience with substantial project leadership on multiāresidential and/or workplace projects.
- Proven track record managing projects from Ā£5māĀ£50m+ in value across all RIBA stages.
- Strong design sensibility with ability to lead concept development whilst maintaining commercial awareness.
- Excellent technical delivery skills with deep understanding of construction detailing, buildability and cost management.
- Proficiency in Revit essential; experience managing BIM workflows advantageous.
- Confident clientāfacing skills with ability to present, negotiate and build lasting relationships.
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning policy, and residential/workplace design standards.
- Experience managing project teams and supporting junior staff development.
- Commercial acumen with understanding of fee management, resource planning and profitability.
