Trainee Design and Certification Engineer Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available) Our client is seeking a motivated Trainee Design and Certification Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This entry-level role is open to recent graduates or candidates who have completed a Level 3 apprenticeship in engineering or a related discipline. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Head of Design and Design Programme Lead, gaining hands-on experience in aircraft interior modification projects encompassing both design and certification. Key Responsibilities (Training Provided) Certification and Compliance Support: Assist in compiling modification and repair packages in accordance with UK CAA Part 21 Subpart J requirements. Classify changes to type design and prepare associated technical documentation. Support the creation of compliance demonstration reports and accomplishment instructions. Learn to interpret and apply aviation regulations, ensuring all modifications meet required airworthiness standards. Engineering Design & Development: Create and modify technical drawings using SolidWorks CAD software. Develop 3D models and produce 2D engineering drawings compliant with aerospace standards. Maintain and review design documentation. Aircraft Survey Assistance: Participate in aircraft surveys, including 3D scanning and technical assessments of cabin interiors. Document findings through detailed reports, photographs, and accurate measurements. Identify areas requiring modification and contribute to technical recommendations. Entry Requirements Candidates may apply if they have: A degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline OR A completed Level 3 engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification Essential skills: Strong interest in aircraft design and certification. Proficiency or willingness to learn CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks). Good attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Desirable: Knowledge of UK CAA Part 21 regulations or prior experience with CAD packages such as SOLIDWORKS / CATIA. University projects, placements, or apprenticeship projects relevant to aircraft design, modification or certification. Professional Competencies: Enthusiasm for learning and developing technical skills. Ability to follow guidance and work as part of a team. Good communication skills both written and verbal with internal and external stakeholders. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Travel Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice. A valid passport is required.
