Position Overview
As a Bartender/Bar Team member within the hotel bar, you will help deliver an exceptional guest experience that is both elevated and effortless. Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience
- Provide a warm and professional welcome to all bar guests, ensuring a polished and attentive level of service at all times.
- Assist with drinks orders at the bar or tables, using your knowledge to make thoughtful recommendations tailored to guest preferences.
- Ensure a comfortable, refined atmosphere by anticipating guest needs and responding promptly and discreetly.
- Deliver drinks and light food items efficiently and elegantly, in accordance with luxury service standards.
- Support a memorable guest journey through subtle personalisation, confident service, and genuine hospitality.
Operational Excellence
- Prepare, set, and maintain the bar and lounge areas to the highest cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Support bar staff during service by preparing garnishes, glassware, restocking items, and running food or drinks.
- Handle guest billing and payments accurately and discreetly using the hotel’s POS systems.
- Ensure all mis en place, stock levels, and service stations are maintained before, during, and after each shift.
- Uphold the sequence of service and SOPs specific to the hotel’s bar environment.
Product Knowledge
- Maintain strong knowledge of the drinks menu, including wines, spirits, classic cocktails, house specials, and non-alcoholic options.
- Stay informed on seasonal offerings, limited editions, and any bar promotions or events.
- Understand key elements such as garnish presentation, appropriate glassware, and base spirit flavour profiles.
- Attend regular tastings or briefings to develop deeper product and pairing knowledge.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with bartenders, sommeliers, and fellow servers to ensure smooth and elegant service.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen for any food service requirements.
- Participate in daily team briefings and service reviews.
- Contribute to a culture of mutual respect, collaboration, and pride in the service delivered.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all licensing laws and hotel policies related to alcohol service.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in line with food safety and health & safety regulations.
- Ensure safe handling of glassware, equipment, and hazardous materials behind the bar.
- Wear full uniform and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Report maintenance issues, health & safety risks, or guest incidents immediately to management.
General Responsibilities
- Support bar setup and closing procedures, including stock control, cleaning, and inventory tasks.
- Attend mandatory training, team meetings, performance reviews, and briefings.
- Uphold and represent the hotel’s brand values, reputation, and guest promise at all times.
- Undertake any reasonable task assigned by the Bar Manager or senior leadership in the interest of the business.
