About the Role

BCS Connect are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to join an established civils and groundworks contractor operating across Berkshire, Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will initially work closely with an experienced member of the senior team, shadowing them across various live sites and gaining a strong understanding of the company's operations, standards and delivery requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Engineer who has experience working within a subcontractor environment, enjoys being hands-on and is looking for the opportunity to develop their career towards site and operational management.

The role will be based from the company's Slough head office, with travel to sites as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of civils and groundworks projects across multiple sites.
  • Work closely with the senior management team, initially shadowing and supporting site activities.
  • Provide strong engineering support across live projects.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and site teams.
  • Assist with setting out, levels, measurements and technical queries.
  • Monitor works to ensure they are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required specification.
  • Communicate effectively with site teams, subcontractors, clients and senior management.
  • Help identify and resolve engineering and construction issues on site.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating site activities.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality.
  • Take increasing responsibility for site management as experience and capability develops.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn the company's systems and processes with a view to progressing into a management role.
  • Key Requirements
  • Solid civil engineering and groundworks background.
  • Previous experience working within a subcontractor environment is essential.
  • Strong experience managing and coordinating people on site.
  • Previous experience working with and managing subcontractors.
  • Strong technical engineering knowledge and practical site experience.
  • SSSTS minimum requirement.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting senior management.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety requirements.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to site delivery.
  • Must be willing to learn, develop and take on additional responsibility.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
