BCS Connect, acting on behalf of our client, is seeking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join a respected Groundworks and Civil Engineering Contractor based in Sheffield. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of infrastructure and groundworks projects across the Yorkshire region. Role Overview: The Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed cost estimates for tender submissions and live projects. The position involves the full estimating lifecycle, from initial enquiry through to final submission, including risk analysis and value engineering. Key Responsibilities: * Review and analyse tender documentation, drawings, and specifications. * Prepare detailed take-offs, bills of quantities (BOQs), and cost build-ups. * Develop rates and pricing structures for earthworks, 278 works, roads and sewers, and full groundworks packages. * Liaise with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners to obtain competitive quotations. * Identify value engineering opportunities and assess alternative construction methodologies. * Prepare tender summaries and present commercial recommendations to senior management. * Maintain accurate cost databases and benchmarking information. * Assist with post-tender negotiations and handover to project delivery teams. Required Skills & Experience: * Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator within the groundworks or civil engineering sector. * Strong technical understanding of earthworks, drainage, highways (S278), and infrastructure construction methodologies. * Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, Candy, or similar). * Competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. * Excellent knowledge of standard construction contracts and procurement routes. * Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related construction discipline. * High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and commercial acumen.
