We’re working with a well-established contractor in the Derby area who is looking to strengthen their commercial team with a talented Estimator. They are a respected client within the civil engineering sector and deliver high-quality infrastructure and groundwork projects across the UK.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in securing new business by producing accurate, competitive estimates across a range of civil engineering and groundwork projects. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring tenders are delivered to a high standard and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates from drawings and specifications
  • Review tender documents and identify key risks and opportunities
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
  • Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
  • Manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively
  • Support bid submissions and help secure new projects
  • Ensure a smooth handover to delivery teams

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator
  • Strong civil engineering / groundwork background (essential)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)
