We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to oversee the successful delivery of a major substation project in the Basingstoke area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and highly respected civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards across the UK.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to client expectations. Working within a live substation environment, you will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of managing teams and subcontractors on similar projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and maintaining all site documentation
- Conducting daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions
- Managing and reviewing ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans)
- Monitoring and managing project programmes and site progress
- Completing take-offs and assisting with material requirements
- Ordering and coordinating plant, equipment, and site resources
- Managing direct labour and subcontractors
- Ensuring health, safety, environmental and quality standards are maintained at all times
- Liaising with clients, engineers, and project stakeholders
- Producing site reports and progress updates
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with project specifications and deadlines
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager working on substation projects
- Strong understanding of civil engineering and infrastructure works within live substation environments
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
- Must hold a valid NG Persons qualification
- CP (Competent Person) Ticket is desirable
- First Aid at Work (desirable)
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple work fronts and site teams effectively
- Full UK Driving Licence
