An established architectural practice with decades of award-winning design excellence is seeking an experienced Senior Architect to join their successful London commercial team. With offices across the country, this medium-large sized practice has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, contextual, narrative-led architecture across education, commercial, residential and mixed-use sectors throughout the UK. The London studio, based in a beautiful building in central/North London, offers a bright, airy workspace with a family-friendly culture and strong work-life balance. This role offers the opportunity to work on substantial commercial office schemes valued at £20m+, with additional involvement in hospitality interior projects. Experience in hotel interiors is particularly valued as the practice expands its hospitality portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of commercial office and workspace projects from concept through to completion, managing design development through RIBA Stages 3-5.
- Oversee technical design packages and coordination, ensuring high-quality delivery of working drawings and specifications.
- Serve as a key point of contact for commercial clients, building strong relationships and providing expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project timelines, coordination processes and consultant teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Contribute design expertise to hospitality interior projects, particularly hotel interiors, applying commercial acumen to create compelling guest experiences.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including structural engineers, MEP consultants, interior designers and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Produce and oversee the development of design proposals, client presentations and technical documentation using Revit.
- Lead site visits and project meetings, both internal and client-facing, providing updates and resolving challenges as they arise.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative studio culture focused on design excellence and delivery.
Qualifications:
- RIBA Part III (or equivalent) and ARB registered.
- 6-10 years of experience with proven track record in commercial office / workspace design, along with hospitality interiors.
- Demonstrated experience managing and delivering medium to large-scale commercial projects from concept to completion.
- Strong client-facing skills with track record of building and maintaining successful client relationships.
- Experience with hotel interior delivery or hospitality projects is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in Revit essential, with strong technical design and coordination capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate project teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of commercial building regulations, workplace standards and sustainability practices.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex technical and design challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to present confidently to clients.
