Role Description

This contract Quantity Surveyor role is a hybrid position based in Weston-Super-Mare, with a combination of on-site work and some work from home and also in the office.

The Quantity Surveyor will prepare and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQ), support cost planning from early design through project delivery, and assist in tender preparation and evaluation.

Day-to-day tasks include monitoring project costs, tracking variations, preparing interim valuations, and producing regular cost reports for internal stakeholders and clients.

The role also involves liaising with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to verify quantities, agree costs, and maintain accurate financial records throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Cost planning and cost management skills, including experience in developing and maintaining cost plans throughout a project.
  • Cost control and cost reporting skills, with the ability to monitor budgets, manage variations, and produce clear financial reports.
  • Proficiency in BOQ preparation and measurement, with strong attention to detail and accuracy in quantification.
  • Relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction or a related field, preferably within residential or commercial building projects.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities, with competency in standard QS software and MS Excel.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills for collaborating with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain organized documentation.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
