This role will require full-time, on-site attendance.

Our client is a Multi Metal Stockholder supplying a wide range of material in various sectors including global motorsport and other high-technology markets, such as Aerospace & Space, Chemical, Defence, Medical, MRO, Naval, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, and Power Generation industries.

As a valued member of our Technical Team, you will bring your unique skills and perspectives to support our customers with technical support and problem-solving related to materials.

Materials Engineer (Metallurgy) Role:

As a Materials Engineer (Metallurgy), you will provide metallurgical support for our Business Units and their Customers, including discussions with the Supply Chain. You will be involved in preparing samples, producing microstructures, and supporting the lab in carrying out mechanical, physical, and chemical tests. You will be working with chemicals and ensuring that COSHH regulations are followed. You will also be involved in a supporting role during training days for our customers.

Core Duties of a Materials Engineer (Metallurgy):
  • You will require a qualification at degree level (BEng/BSc) in metallurgy or materials science.
  • You will need to have gained some knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy.
  • You will need to have experience of developing procedures for preparing, etching, and assessing microstructures.
  • You will need to have experience of handling chemicals in accordance with COSHH regulations, including safe disposal of waste chemicals.
  • You will have knowledge of mechanical, physical, and spectrographic chemical analysis.
  • You will be able to provide technical support to our many customers.
  • You will be able to provide support with the laboratories' training activities.

The Current Technical Services Team comprises 6 specialists working in the field of metals testing. You will be part of a nationwide group of businesses with over 350 personnel, while also being part of a small team. You will be able to focus on your area of expertise within our supportive culture and develop your own interests within the materials supply industry. There is always something new to learn.
