Our client is looking for an experienced Machine Tool Engineer or Maintenance Engineer to join their Maintenance team within a busy heavy engineering and manufacturing environment.
As a hands-on Mechanical Engineer, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on machine tools and heavy industrial equipment. Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, you'll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving plant reliability and supporting continuous improvement across the business.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on manufacturing machinery and heavy plant equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Work as a Breakdown Engineer and Mechanical Fitter, responding to equipment failures and carrying out repairs.
- Install, commission and maintain machine tools and production equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Update maintenance records using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
- Assemble and fit machine components to engineering specifications.
- Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and housekeeping.
Requirements:
- Time-served engineering apprenticeship with industrial experience, ideally working on heavy plant equipment.
- NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Experience as a Machine Tool Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong engineering background with excellent mechanical fault-finding skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Overhead crane and forklift truck experience.
