Bespak are seeking a HR Officer for a fixed term contract for the Holmes Chapel site, CW4 8BE. The salary for this role is £33,000 to £38,000 plus a discretionary annual bonus. Other benefits include 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a generous 10% pension contribution, onsite free parking, and medical/dental/health/life insurance.
Working pattern: Monday to Friday (8.30am to 9am start / 4.30pm - 5pm finish. 4pm finish on Friday possible). There is some flexibility on start and finish times.
Role overview: The HR Officer plays a key role in delivering a high-quality, responsive HR service that supports both people and organisational performance. Working in partnership with the HR Business Partner and Head of HR, the role provides practical, day-to-day HR advice and support whilst actively contributing to the continuous improvement of HR processes and ways of working.
The role combines strong operational HR delivery with involvement in functional projects, data analysis and service development, supporting the organisation's people strategy and overall performance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, legally compliant HR advice to managers and employees, aligned to UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Manage first-line and complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence and long-term sickness management.
- Coach and support managers in effective people management and fair, consistent decision-making.
- Support end-to-end recruitment and selection, ensuring inclusive practices and a strong candidate experience.
- Deliver and support core people processes, including performance management, reward, annual merit and bonus cycles.
- Analyse HR data and KPIs to support workforce planning and evidence-based decision-making.
- Contribute to HR projects, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate strong professional integrity, ethical practice and compliance with health, safety and governance requirements.
- Accountable for end-to-end recruitment delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, and an exceptional candidate and line manager experience.
- Act as a trusted partner to hiring managers and HR, providing market insight, recruitment best practice, and workforce planning support.
- Build sustainable talent pipelines, including early careers and future skills development.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in an HR Officer or equivalent advisory role, with sound applied knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Evidence of a data-led approach, including effective use of HR systems, maintenance of accurate people data, and production of HR metrics and insights to support decision-making.
- Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy while providing professional, proactive support to senior HR colleagues and business stakeholders.
- Strong planning, organisation and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands and deliver against agreed HR objectives.
- Demonstrates professional integrity, confidentiality and discretion in line with CIPD standards of ethical practice.
- Digitally confident, with strong capability in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting first-line employee relations cases.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified or actively working towards the qualification.
- Experience liaising with Occupational Health providers and supporting the delivery of internal wellbeing or health-related programmes.
