Bespak is looking for an onsite, permanent, Multi Skilled Engineer on the Holmes Chapel site, CW4 8BE. The salary for this role is £49746.53 per annum plus 24% shift allowance. Other benefits you will receive are 25 days leave plus bank holidays, discretionary annual bonus, generous 10% pension contribution, onsite free parking, and medical / dental / health / life assurance. Working Pattern – 5 day 3 shift pattern 13:50 – 22:00, 05:50 – 14:00 & 21:50 - 06:00 rotating Monday to Friday.
As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will provide a professional engineering maintenance and repair service for pharmaceutical production equipment and process systems. Your duties will include:
- Carry out planned preventive and breakdown maintenance, repairs, and inspections on pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and systems, ensuring adherence to safety and cGMP standards.
- Maintain equipment reliability in line with scheduled plans while using CMMS and SOPs to ensure full compliance and accurate documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying faults, implementing solutions, and recommending enhancements to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance across manufacturing, filling, and packaging operations.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, and qualification activities, and ensure availability of required spares and consumables.
- Contribute to team capability by maintaining up-to-date technical skills, completing training, and supporting the development of colleagues.
- Demonstrate strong ethical accountability by adhering to company policies, industry regulations, and escalating issues when required.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by following all health and safety procedures, reporting incidents or risks, and supporting investigations to prevent recurrence.
Beneficial key skills and experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in an engineering role within a pharmaceutical or regulated industry.
- Multi-skilled engineer with strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability, able to make sound decisions and work with minimal supervision.
- Effective team player with clear communication skills; able to support, guide, and train operators, apprentices, contractors, and suppliers as required.
- Proficient in PC-based maintenance systems (CMMS).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment processes with a high level of health & safety awareness.
- Proactive in identifying personal training needs and contributing to the development of others within the team.
- Completed a nationally recognised apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a secondary engineering discipline (Electrical or Mechanical).
