What you'll be doing:
- You will provide engineering support across a range of projects, focusing on Safety, Health and the Environment, Project Control, Procurement, Site Matters and Quality.
- As a senior member of the team, you will often work closely with the Client, so a customer-focused, calm and collaborative approach is essential for building strong working relationships.
- Although your role primarily supports a Project Manager, the size and complexity of certain projects may require you to manage elements independently, with any additional responsibilities defined during the project Kick Off meeting and aligned with the Project Managers’ job description.
- You should have a solid understanding of current legislation, requirements and best practice, implementing the company’s Safety Management System, supporting the Project Manager in achieving zero accidents, ensuring the Health and Safety Plan is followed, and carrying out site safety audits.
- In Project Control, you will work closely with the Project Manager to prepare design and construction programmes, monitor and report progress, ensure projects are delivered on time, liaise with the project team on programme requirements, maintain strict cost control from procurement through to handover, and help achieve zero customer complaints.
- Within Procurement, you will agree working arrangements with key service providers, produce procurement schedules, organise and manage subcontractors to meet project timescales, and negotiate best-price procurement for suppliers and subcontractors.
- For Site Matters, you will support the Site Manager by maintaining high standards of workmanship, attending site meetings with the client and site teams, preparing quality and safety plans, and contributing to risk assessments, method statements and COSHH assessments.
- In terms of Quality, you will help ensure the installation meets the expectations of both BES and the Client by coordinating with all disciplines, inspecting ongoing works, monitoring snag completion, interpreting drawings accurately, communicating required standards to subcontractors and suppliers, promoting the BES Quality System, achieving zero formal customer complaints, and assessing buildability while offering proactive solutions.
What you'll bring:
- Minimum HNC qualified in Building Services or Building Studies.
- Trained to a minimum standard of IoSH Managing Safely.
- Although you will be experienced in delivering projects in your core skill, experience in the delivery of turnkey projects is also required.
- Able to understand design principles and carry out design associated with minor changes.
- Experienced in the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets is preferred particularly in the construction of laboratories and cleanrooms.
- Working knowledge of company safety and quality procedures.
- IT literate and conversant with Microsoft Office, Outlook and Project.
- Fully conversant with CDM regulations and able to operate at senior level in fulfilling the role of principal contractor.
- Minimum 10 years experience in industry.
