This is a hybrid role, primarily home-based, with nationwide travel to offices and client sites. Ideally, the successful candidate will be in the Northwest or Midlands area.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an effective control environment to support the delivery of services across machinery, lifting plant, and accessories, covering multiple industrial sectors at pre- and post-commissioning stages.
  • Oversee engineer workforce competency management, including training, technical support, quality control, and research and development within the Machinery discipline.
  • Stay up to date with legislation, regulatory requirements, and technological advancements.
  • Provide leadership, performance management, and development of a team of Technical Specialists.
  • Act as the discipline specialist, ensuring effective delivery of training, technical support, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure business compliance with legislation and regulations.
  • Contribute to technical aspects of recruitment and support Research and Development within the Machinery discipline.
  • Represent BES Group with external stakeholders, including enforcing authorities, accreditation bodies, industry leaders, and customers.
  • Deliver ad hoc specialist training and fee-earning work.
  • Maintain a strong personal knowledge of the regulatory framework the company operates within.
  • Support Engineer Surveyors with their professional development.
  • Authorize relevant Technical Staff and approve management system documentation and records.

Qualifications

  • A degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (preferred)
  • A strong level of management experience in a similar industry
  • Knowledge of, or involvement with, industry committees such as SAFED or BIS
  • A full UK driving licence
