Responsibilities

  • Undertake structure examination duties independently.
  • Liaise with clients regarding day‑to‑day delivery and enabling works.
  • Coordinate a small team to deliver an annual programme of work.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date programmes, progress lists, and highlight risks to delivery.
  • Identify and arrange examination methods, including track access.
  • Ensure the timely and efficient production of condition reports.
  • Undertake quality audits and produce feedback reports.
  • Mentor and support Trainee Examiners and Examiners.

Qualifications

  • A full STE4 competency.
  • A valid COSS competency.
  • An IRATA Rope Access Level 1 qualification, or willingness to complete this training.
  • Medium‑risk confined space trained, or willingness to complete the training.
  • Extensive experience coordinating and delivering complex structure examinations and producing high‑quality technical reports.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and support Examiners and Trainee Examiners.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Willingness to travel nationally.
  • Medically fit for rail work and hold the appropriate railway medical.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • A STE7 competency and a professional engineering qualification such as Engineering Technician ICE are desirable but not mandatory – we can support you through this training.
