This role will be based at our Manufacturing site in Cowes, Isle of Wight.

As Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, where we are a bespoke manufacturer of load and angle monitoring equipment, you will work with and gain experience from the wider Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and Software Engineering teams. You will:

  • Provide mechanical design models and drawings which realise the design.
  • Be aware of the quality assurance requirements of projects, and to ensure the necessary quality procedures are allowed for in quotations.
  • Prepare manufacturing instructions for the mechanical aspects of customer and internal projects with respect to the above activities.
  • Investigate problems relating to mechanical aspects of designs and initiate corrective actions to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Assist with the mechanical input requirement for quotations.
  • Discuss the mechanical design parameters of projects directly within our Engineering team and with customers using the most appropriate communication method.
  • Visit customers on occasions where there is a high technical input, or to discuss mechanical problems.
  • Adapt equipment when existing or standard equipment is not available and there is no suitable equipment available on the market.
  • Review and process customer order information supplied to the department.
  • Communicate with electronics and/or software engineers as appropriate to ensure the compatibility of equipment, during both quotation and production stages.
  • Liaise with and support production staff with regards to providing solutions to manufacturing/test/calibration requirements and techniques.

As Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will get:

  • A minimum standard starting salary of ÂŁ28,000 depending on experience
  • Company Pension Scheme
  • Annual salary review
  • 23 days plus bank holidays (up to 25 days with 5 years’ service)
  • An extra day’s holiday to take on Christmas Eve each year
  • Access to our buy and sell holiday scheme
  • Opportunity for flexible working
  • Electric Vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
  • Discounts and savings via our employee benefits portal
  • Health and wellbeing support via our Employee Assistance Programme

  • Experience with CAD, ideally Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor
  • Demonstrated interest in mechanical design, including relevant extracurricular or practical experience
  • Experience managing CAD data using systems such as Autodesk Vault
