The Role
As ESG & Sustainability Manager, you'll lead the charge in defining and implementing our environmental and social governance strategy. This role is pivotal to our mission and supports the business in embedding sustainable practices across every part of the operation. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across departments to assess and improve our impact, develop a structured approach to ESG, and ensure we remain aligned with B Corp, ISO 14001, and Science-Based Targets. You'll be a visible sustainability champion in the business - translating complex data into meaningful goals and actions, and building the frameworks that guide us toward Net Zero.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a forward-thinking sustainability strategy, informed by industry best practice, internal assessments, and research.
- Lead periodic reviews of Beryl's sustainability maturity framework and ensure the business remains aligned with ESG best practice.
- Set clear milestones and track progress against Science Based Targets and other ESG benchmarks.
- Maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement across our B Corp and ISO 14001 certifications.
- Establish and maintain an internal KPI tracking system covering energy, carbon, and lifecycle emissions.
- Complete carbon footprint analysis and life cycle assessments (LCA) of our vehicles and products.
- Introduce appropriate sustainability monitoring platforms across key business areas.
- Communicate results and key milestones to the wider business and support public reporting.
- Work with the Operations team to implement sustainable design and production principles, including cradle-to-cradle thinking.
- Partner with the Marketing team to communicate our sustainability efforts to customers and stakeholders.
- Assess and propose new initiatives, balancing impact, cost, and operational feasibility.
- Engage with senior stakeholders to align sustainability with strategic business goals.
- Act as a passionate sustainability advocate across the business.
- Help embed ESG thinking into every department and nurture a culture of continuous environmental and social improvement.
What We're Looking For
- A deep passion for sustainability and a track record of turning it into tangible business outcomes.
- At least 2 years' experience in a similar ESG or sustainability role.
- A relevant degree or strong technical expertise gained through practical experience.
- Associate membership (or higher) of IEMA or another recognised professional body.
- Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 14001.
- Familiarity with carbon life cycle assessments and sustainability data platforms.
- Confidence working with environmental data and communicating it in a compelling way.
- A good understanding of corporate governance, Net Zero pathways, and impact reporting.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with or knowledge of B Corp certification.
- A balanced and pragmatic approach to sustainability strategy.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the mobility, transport, or micromobility sectors.
- Experience working in a B Corp certified company.
- Familiarity with Science-Based Targets and GHG Protocol frameworks.
- Experience using platforms like Plan A, Normative, or Greenly for carbon tracking.
