Berthon International is a successful yacht brokerage and new boat sales business headquartered in Lymington, UK. We hold new boat dealerships for Solaris Sail, Solaris Power and Pegasus Yachts. Sales offices in Newport, Rhode Island, Orust, Sweden, and Palma de Mallorca, Spain give worldwide reach in major markets. These offices variously hold dealerships for Solaris Sail, Moody, Sealine and Rustler. The overseas offices are operated on a joint venture basis with those that run them.
The Head of Yacht Sales reports to the directors of Berthon Boat Co Ltd. Berthon is a fourth generation family business with a strong balance sheet and no debt, which gives a strong and secure financial foundation for yacht brokerage and new boat sales. Berthon Boat Co Ltd provides the accounting function, a full service boat yard and has other subsidiaries such as Berthon Lymington Marina, to assist with the sales process.
The varied role includes:
- Deep knowledge of the brokerage and new yacht market in the segment between 40 feet and 120 feet
- Ability to deliver consistent sales results personally of circa £500,000 commission income
- Devising, implementing and controlling strategy
- Oversight of the marketing function including look and feel
- Running the UK team
- Oversight of the team's sales contracts
- Resolving complications experienced by the team in with any ongoing deals
- Oversight of the overseas offices (collaborative process with the other shareholders and stakeholders)
- Fostering teamwork and encouraging the team
- Good weekly reporting to the directors of Berthon Boat Co Ltd
- Ability to run budgets and targets, and delivering competent cost control
What we are looking for:

- A successful salesperson who is able to list and sell yachts effectively at a high level
- An extensive client base of your own

- A knowledge of the marketing process to drive the Berthon offering
- Marketing aware, able to write and edit copy and drive the marketing initiatives
- Good attention to detail
- Familiar with and comfortable with legal contracts (both yacht sales and commercial)
- Grow our business
- Take advantage of market conditions to increase market share
Additional information:
- A full handover will be provided and any ongoing support required
- Salary plus bonus dependent on ongoing success
- Berthon International is a member of MYBA, YBDSA and YBAA. Membership of any of these associations is positive but not essential
- This is based at our Lymington HQ with foreign travel
- Berthon International operates in the English language. Other languages are an advantage, but not essential.
