With an increased demand for our services, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our long-standing projects office in Lymington, with a proven track record in a similar role. You will be managing production, refits, and in service support of boats 20’ – 80’ for Berthon’s wide range of commercial customers, including port authorities, MoD, Border Force, fisheries, sail training and survey organisations. This may include both sailing and motorboats. This is a full-time role at Berthon’s Lymington shipyard (not hybrid or WFH).
Essential skills:
- Marine production and/or refit project management experience
- Proven track record of successfully managing multi-discipline teams
- Coordinating project schedule and budget, and reporting to stakeholders
- Organised, level-headed and have the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proactive, while ready to be reactive in solving problems and changes in scope
- Extensive knowledge of boats – motor and/or sail
- Familiar with components and materials used in the industry, and who supplies them
- Excellent verbal and written communicator, and experience dealing with clients of high value contracts
- Ability to lead a team to deliver positive outcomes
- High levels of computer literacy including ERP
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- An engineering or practical background, for example a time served Boatbuilding, Marine Electrical or Marine Engineering apprenticeship, working on tools and then promoted to project management
- A degree in a relevant course such as Yacht Design and Production, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture would also be a strong foundation for this role
- AutoCAD or equivalent
- Specialist knowledge of composite construction, marine electrical or engineering installations
